The CHRISTUS Specialty Pharmacy PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to develop the resident’s knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations, enhance their ability to deliver clinical services in specialty disease states, grow administration and leadership skills, and provide opportunities for scholarly activities. The resident will train in a health-system-based specialty pharmacy and clinics, where clinical pharmacists serve as integrated patient care team members. The residency program started in 2024 and its first resident will complete the program in June 2025. The program currently is in candidate status and will be completing the accreditation progress in the spring of 2025. Residency Activities: Clinical Services:

Scholarly Activities and Service:
The resident’s schedule may vary depending on ongoing activities and may include various block, longitudinal, and elective rotations throughout the year. Rotation blocks will primarily be 6 weeks in length and will be based on clinic and disease specialty. Below is a sample schedule of a 6-week block rotation: Weeks 1-5 Monday: Administrative/Leadership Tuesday-Friday: Clinical services/project time

For an application to be considered by the CHRISTUS Specialty Pharmacy PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program, the following criteria, at minimum, must be met:
Other broad criteria for selection to the residency program include leadership abilities, professional development, professional competence including in clinical situations, communication skills, scholastic achievements, and dependability and ability to work with others. Applications should be submitted through PhORCAS; NMS code 312915. The applicant must submit curriculum vitae, letter of intent, pharmacy school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.
