PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS) and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. This PGY-1 residency will enable residents to acquire a broad range of clinical, distributive, management, and teaching skills. Rotations may include internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, oncology, informatics, pharmacokinetics, and medication safety. Residents will have the opportunity to complete a teaching certificate program at Rutgers University. Residents are expected to present at Medical Grand Rounds, complete a research project, and have an active role in interdisciplinary committees.
ACPE-accredited Pharm.D., licensed/eligible for licensure in New Jersey, letter of intent, college transcripts, CV, US Citizenship, and three reference letters.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset (RWJUH Somerset) is a 365 bed acute-care community hospital located in Somerville, NJ and part of the RWJBarnabas Health System.
