PGY2 Infectious Diseases Residency UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL UF Health Shands Hospital is a nationally recognized 1,162 bed academic medical center located in beautiful Gainesville, Florida. UF Health Shands Hospital provides diverse and comprehensive patient care services including a wide variety of solid organ transplantation, critical care, hematology/oncology, pediatric, neurosurgical, cardiovascular and general medicine services. The Hospital’s specialty programs are consistently ranked among the nation’s best in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospital rankings. Overall, UF Health Shands Hospital was ranked in 10 adult and pediatric medical specialties. UF Health Shands Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. UF Health Shands has a long-standing residency program for over 50 years that includes thirteen total residents annually. UF Health Shands Hospital is externally recruiting actively for our PGY2 ASHP-accredited specialized residency program in Infectious Disease for the 2025– 2026 residency year. PGY2 Infectious Diseases: The residency in Infectious Diseases at UF Health Shands Hospital is designed to provide specialized training in the delivery of effective antimicrobial therapy to diverse patient populations and prepare the resident for independent practice as an infectious diseases specialist. During the 12-month program, the resident develops clinical practice skills through direct patient care and didactic learning. Teaching and research skills are developed. Service areas covered include nine Intensive Care Units, Bone Marrow and Organ Transplantation, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. All candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and have completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency prior to beginning the PGY2 residency year. All candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and have completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency prior to beginning the PGY2 residency year.
