Session: Monday
Booth Number: 4140
This residency program has two core clinics. The primary clinic for the resident is the University of South Alabama Family Medicine in partnership with Accordia Health which is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). A secondary site is the University of South Alabama Mobile Diagnostics Clinic which operates as a private practice clinic. The program collaborates with Auburn University, Harrison College of Pharmacy and is associated with a multi-track Resident Teaching and Learning certificate Program (RTLP) for those wanting to focus on precepting or academia. The RTLP is free for residents. All clinics operate under USA Health and therefore the resident has the opportunity for elective experiences in specialty care depending on availability and resident interest. Pharmacists in the family medicine clinic perform comprehensive chronic disease management and point of care services. The resident will have the opportunity to complete several research and scholarly projects as well as quality improvement projects within an interprofessional team. Core longitudinal experiences include Ambulatory Care - Family Medicine Focused, Ambulatory Care - Private Practice Focused, Clinical Service, Precepting, Major Project, and Medication Use Evaluation. All residents will complete an Orientation Learning Experience. Elective experiences are available and will be individualized to the resident based on their preference and availability of preceptors. Resident interests are identified prior to July 1st for determination of elective experiences. Examples of elective experiences past residents have done include Psych, Transitions of Care, Precepting Intensive, Academia, Geriatrics, Endocrinology and Women's Health.. Between University of South Alabama Health and Auburn University, the resident will have access to clinical pharmacists across the state of Alabama specializing in multiple different fields for potential elective experiences.
Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 program; licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of AL; transcripts, curriculum vitae, letter of intent, and three references completed through PhORCAS.
