The VA Center for Medication Safety (VAMedSAFE) is recruiting for our National PGY2 Residency in Medication-use Safety and Policy. Our one of a kind program affords residents multiple opportunities to collaborate with national leaders to improve the safe and appropriate use of medications in Veterans across the country! Residents have worked with the FDA, CDC, VA Medical Advisory Panel, VA Pharmacy Executives, ASHP, and others on medication and vaccine safety projects that help to inform policy both within and outside of VA. Residents gain experience in the following areas: Pharmacovigilance, Medication-Use Safety Research, Medication Use Evaluations, VA Adverse Drug Event Reporting System, Medication Use Risk Reduction and Population Management, Drug Safety Alerts, Administration, Medical Center Level Medication-Use Safety, and more... VAMedSAFE staff lead national MUEs, active and passive surveillance for ADRs, dashboards, medication safety communications, research, and more. Medication safety encompasses all areas of pharmacy, and there are a wide variety of opportunities for residents during and after the program.

About VA Center for Medication Safety/VA PBM
VA Center for Medication Safety (VAMedSAFE) is a comprehensive pharmacovigilance program that has developed and implemented numerous national programs to monitor the safe and effective use of medications in VA. VAMedSAFE conducts and promotes medication safety at regional and national levels, provides interventions to decrease preventable ADEs, and educates the field on practices to minimize ADEs. The Center translates research and published evidence into national policy through its cooperative arrangements with pharmacy leaders, the Medical Advisory Panel, and other departments within VA.
