Site Description:
VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System is a member of one of the world’s largest integrated health care systems. It consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and 10 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. The George E. Wahlen Medical Center is located in Salt Lake City on an 81 acre plot situated at the foot of the rugged Wasatch Mountains overlooking the city below. It is a 130-bed tertiary care facility serving veterans from the Intermountain West. VASLCHCS is closely affiliated with the University of Utah School of Medicine, which is located adjacent to the Medical Center. The pharmacy residency program has affiliations with the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and Roseman University College of Pharmacy.
Living in Utah:
Salt Lake City is located between two mountain ranges, the Wasatch Mountains to the East and the Oquirrh Mountains to the West. Numerous restaurants, shops, theatres and outdoor concerts make Salt Lake City an exciting place to live. In addition to professional sporting teams, the city hosts its own symphony and ballet. No matter what your taste in music or entertainment..., you are likely to find something to suit you at one of the many indoor and outdoor music and performance venues available around Salt Lake City. World class skiing and snowboarding areas are easily accessible from Salt Lake City with 10 of the nation’s top ski resorts within an hour of downtown. Utah is also home to 5 national parks. For warmer weather during winter, Moab and southern Utah offer hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, and camping.
