The Cheyenne VA Health Care System (VAHCS) is located in the southeast corner of Wyoming, with clinics located in Northern Colorado, Southeast Wyoming, and Western Nebraska. Cheyenne is known for clear blue skies, a rich western history, beautiful frontier and close proximity to the urban areas of northern Colorado. The Cheyenne VAHCS provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP) services, extended nursing home care and inpatient care services, for veterans residing in Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska. Care is delivered through the main hospital and clinic in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the Northern Colorado VA Clinic, as well as in a number of community-based outpatient and rural outreach clinics.

The Cheyenne VAHCS PGY1 Pharmacy Residency will train pharmacists in the setting of a large, rural VA health care system. Our residency program is structured to ensure residents graduate from the program as well-rounded pharmacists. The required learning experiences include inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, pain, mental health, and informatics just to name a few. Feedback from residents and preceptors is used to shape the program, making customization of the residency possible for each resident.

Our pharmacy staff cares for the residents and encourages and adopts them into the pharmacy family each year. This offers a unique learning environment set up for resident success.

The Cheyenne VA Health Care System (CVAHCS) has been serving the Southeastern Wyoming, Northeastern Colorado, and Southwestern Nebraska area's Veterans since 1934. The CVAHCS takes a proactive, multidisciplinary approach to health care, with the pharmacist being fully integrated into the interdisciplinary team.
