The University of Iowa Health Care offers the following ASHP-Accredited residency programs:
PGY1 Purpose: PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Each program has specific training requirements which may include both acute and ambulatory areas, as well as clinical and operational areas. All residents are required to complete a year long project and staffing commitment, as well as have an opportunity for a teaching preparation program.
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program or equivalent. Application Requirements:

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL CARE: Pharmacists within the Department of Pharmaceutical Care at UIHC provide a wide variety of patient care, education and research-related services. Comprehensive pharmaceutical care is provided to both acute and ambulatory patients supported by a network of acute care pharmacy satellites, central pharmacy, sterile product processing area, drug information center, and ambulatory care pharmacies. Automation and technology has been widely implemented... throughout the Department to support safe medication use. Clinical pharmacy specialists and clinical pharmacists provide all aspects of drug therapy management for patients in both the acute and ambulatory care settings. Pharmacists participate in a wide range of clinical services and activities through interactions with patients, physicians and other health-care team members. The pharmacists are extensively involved in teaching residents and students on experiential rotations through the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.
