The Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS) PGY2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy Residency is a 12-month program that advances the resident’s skills in medication safety, drug formulary management, revenue management, medication-use policy, drug information, regulatory compliance, problem-solving, and metrics/data analysis within an academic health-system, M Heath Fairview (MHFV). The program is designed to prepare the resident to practice in a variety of roles related to medication-use safety and policy at various practice sites including health-systems, ambulatory pharmacy, academia, industry, population health, or managed care. Residents will receive comprehensive training in medication safety science, medication utilization evaluation, drug formulary management, medication policy, data analytics and informatics, medication shortage management, research, project management, and scholarly writing. FPS is a comprehensive provider of pharmacy services in Minnesota, including hospital services, 30+ community pharmacies, and nationally recognized specialty pharmacy and home infusion programs. FPS and MHFV promote the safe, effective, and fiscally responsible use of medications across the enterprise via the System Pharmacy Operations Center (SPOC).
