St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital is a teaching hospital located in Bryan, TX and home to a Level II Trauma Center supported by award-winning surgical and medical services including trauma surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, and neurosurgery. Awarded the status of a Primary Stroke Center and ACC/AHA Accredited Chest Pain Center, St. Joseph Health offers specialty clinical services including cardiovascular care, critical care, pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, radiation/oncology, diagnostic imaging, urology, gastrointestinal care, women’s services, pediatric care, and neonatal intensive care.

St. Joseph Health is devoted to clinical excellence and promotes clinical research and education of health professionals through our affiliation with Texas A&M Health Science Center.

The post graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program at St. Joseph Health has candidate accreditation status by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program currently offers 3 resident positions in a 12-month postgraduate curriculum that provides training opportunities to strengthen skills in patient care; advancing pharmacy practice and improving patient outcomes; leadership and management; and teaching, education, and dissemination of knowledge.

Core rotations include internal medicine, critical care, trauma/surgery, emergency medicine, cardiac care, and pharmacy administration. The residency includes longitudinal experiences in medication safety, pain management, antimicrobial stewardship, transition of care, formulary management, practice leadership, and concentrated experiences in professional development and medical emergencies. Elective rotations include choices from infectious disease, neonatal intensive care, oncology/hematology, neurology, clinical pharmacy management, and palliative care/pain management.

Residents have the opportunity to engage in teaching and preceptorship of students through participation in an academic training program with Texas A&M University College of Pharmacy.
