Covenant Health System celebrated 100 years of service to the West Texas region in 2018. Our facility provides healthcare to communities spanning 62 counties in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. The unique layout of West Texas makes Lubbock the most accessible advanced healthcare hub for a large patient population in the outlying rural communities. Covenant Health System has smaller hospitals and clinics in many of these rural communities in a mission to bring accessible healthcare to those in need. Covenant Medical Center is a 400 bed Level II trauma center designated as the only Certified Stroke Center in the region. We have an outstanding pharmacy staff that includes decentralized clinical pharmacists that work with interdisciplinary teams in many areas of the facility. Applications to the program can be submitted through PhorCAS.
To be considered for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, applicants must be registered with the ASHP Matching Program. All applications are submitted via PhORCAS. Prior to the start of the program, the resident will have graduated from an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy and shall be licensed or eligible for licensure. Applicants must pass all Covenant Health employment pre-screenings including but not limited to drug screen and background check. Strong residency candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate a pattern of professionalism and leadership, as well as being committed to patient focused pharmaceutical care.
