The Lebanon VA Medical Center provides a well-balanced residency experience. Along with completion of core rotations you can choose to focus electives in a vast range of ambulatory care clinics, additional acute care experiences, or stay with a balanced mix. Required rotations include orientation, team based primary care (Patient Aligned Care Team-PACT), acute care, and population management within the anticoagulation clinic; with required longitudinal experiences in drug information, hospital pharmacy practice (staffing), teaching, practice management, and epoetin telephone clinic. Elective experiences may include academic detailing, advanced ambulatory care, advanced acute care, anticoagulation services, antimicrobial stewardship, behavioral health, clinical practice administration, diabetes management, home based primary care (HBPC), hospice/palliative care, outpatient or inpatient clinical pharmacy, pain management, pharmacoeconomics/formulary management, pharmacogenomics, and others depending on interests and needs. The rotation schedule is flexible allowing residents to tailor the program to meet their educational goals.
U.S. citizenship, Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent experience, pharmacist license from any state in the United States, participation in the ASHP Resident Matching Program, official academic transcript(s), curriculum vitae, letter of intent, and 3 letters of recommendation.
About Lebanon VA Medical Center
The LVAMC is a teaching hospital affiliated with Penn State Hershey Medical School. Over 350 medical residents, fellows, and students rotate through the Lebanon VA every year. As a result, this residency provides an educational environment that emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The LVAMC pharmacy residency trains residents to be well-rounded in ambulatory care specialties and acute care medicine while also allowing individuals the opportunity to concentrate on their primary interests.
