The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and contributes to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. The focus of this residency is to enhance skills in pharmacy leadership, pharmaceutical care, patient education, medication therapy monitoring, establishing therapeutic goals and communication with healthcare providers. Our affiliation with Shenandoah University enables the residents to participate in a teaching and learning certificate program and gain experience through precepting pharmacy students.
