Posted: 10-Aug-21 Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee Required Education: PharmD Erlanger Health System offers an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Residency Program designed to allow pharmacy residents to develop a strong foundation in pharmacotherapy, operational, and practice management skills enabling them to progress towards a variety of professional goals, including competitive clinical positions or advanced residency and fellowship training. The PGY1 residency program is led by a motivated, accomplished team of pharmacist educators practicing in a broad range of clinical areas. Residents will enhance their clinical skills and knowledge practicing under experienced, board certified clinical pharmacy specialists in an academic teaching environment. Areas of clinical pharmacy specialty where residents will receive focused training include:
Erlanger Health System is affiliated with several local colleges of pharmacy, including the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, Mercer University College of Pharmacy, South College of Pharmacy, and East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy, providing ample opportunities for PGY1 residents to gain experience in precepting. Erlanger Health System is a multi-hospital health network and academic medical center based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition to serving as the tri-state region’s only Level I Trauma Center and employing a fleet of six LifeForce Air Ambulances, Erlanger is a nationally recognized Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, has a Certified Acute Myocardial Infarction Program, and is a member of the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network. Erlanger is also home to The Children’s Hospital at Erlanger with the region’s only Level IV Neonatal ICU as well as a pediatric trauma team, Emergency Room, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Recognized as the area’s only academic teaching hospital, Erlanger is affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga Campus. The Erlanger Pharmacy Residency program offers four PGY1 positions. The applicant should be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and eligible for licensure in Tennessee. The applicant should submit a detailed letter of interest, current curriculum vitae, official pharmacy school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) website. The program prefers letters of recommendation that can speak to the resident's clinical skills and abilities, knowledge base, and readiness for residency. All applicants are required to participate in the Resident Matching Program and must be able to participate in an on-site interview.
About Erlanger Health System
Erlanger's PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is an ASHP-accredited program designed to guide resident growth and development to provide the necessary skills to competently manage pharmacy practice. The resident will work to develop clinical knowledge, confidence, and the ability to provide therapy enhancing pharmaceutical care under the supervision of experienced clinical pharmacy specialists. Residents will learn to effectively communicate and interact with patients and healthcare providers while refining skills in educating other healthcare professionals, students, and patients. Upon completion of the program, residents will be prepared to practice in a variety of healthcare settings.
