Posted: 18-Aug-21 Location: Houston, Texas Required Education: PharmD HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is excited to offer a 12-month PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. During this time, residents are involved in high-quality patient-centered care, medication use policy, leadership and practice management, project management, education of healthcare providers and trainees, and medical emergencies. The purpose of the PGY1-Pharmacy Residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, who are eligible for board certification as well as postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. A solid and excellent clinical and operational foundation is developed through robust clinical experiences in areas such as internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, teaching and clinical research. In addition, dynamic leadership and medication safety rotations are offered as well. About HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood
HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.
As a premier hospital in the Gulf Coast Division of HCA, our 419-bed facility houses a 22-bed medical intensive care unit (ICU), 10-bed trauma ICU, and a 22-bed cardiovascular/neurology ICU. Our Neuroscience Program is a recipient of the American Stroke Association's Gold Plus and Target Honor Roll Elite Awards and accredited by DNV GL Healthcare as the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Northeast Houston. Our Interventional Cardiology program was the first in the area and evolved to offer the area’s only open-heart surgery center. HCA Houston Kingwood has received the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI Cycle III by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The Women’s and Children’s department has a 24-bed level III neonatal ICU, a 6...-bed pediatric unit, a 24-hour pediatric emergency room, and boasts a maternal care level III unit designation. Aside from our orthopedic and cardio-thoracic surgical cases, we also have service lines that include bariatric care with plans to further expand ICU and acute care units.
The current Graduate Medical Education (GME) General Medicine and Surgery Residencies are an academic partnership that serves as a precursor to the opening of the University of Houston College of Medicine. It is just the start of an ever-expanding higher education collaboration between our two powerhouses. Our clinical pharmacist team have an integral impact working in tandem with our physicians in our Antimicrobial Management Program with pharmacists certified by the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate. As a result of our efforts, our institution has been designated by the Infectious Diseases Society of America as a Center of Excellence that delivers consistently high-quality care and serves as the gold standard for executing novel Antimicrobial Stewardship principles.
