Posted: 13-Aug-21 Location: Johnson City, Tennessee Preferred Education: PharmD The PGY1 residency provides advanced level training in the provision of patient-centered pharmaceutical care in a community-based health system. Residents will develop skills to successfully interact with interdisciplinary teams to optimize drug therapy, lead medication safety initiatives, and provide education. A variety of clinical experiences is offered with an emphasis on cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, pediatrics, trauma, pharmacokinetics, and research. The critical care residency provides advanced level training in intensive care medicine at a tertiary referral center within a community based health care system. The critical care resident will have the opportunity to work in many exciting settings including medical ICU, surgical/trauma ICU, cardiology/cardiac ICU, NICU/PICU, ID, nutritional support, ED, IM, nephrology, and neurology/neurocritical care. In addition, the resident will participate in research projects, MUEs, inter-professional education and professional writing. PGY1 Requirements for Acceptance: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college/school of pharmacy or equivalent experience, eligibility for licensure in Tennessee, college transcripts, curriculum vitae, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation. PGY2 Requirements for Acceptance: Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 residency program, or equivalent experience, Tennessee licensure, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, college of pharmacy transcripts, all applications received through PhORCAS.
About Johnson City Medical Center
Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) is a 445-bed tertiary referral hospital located in Northeast Tennessee. JCMC is the only Level 1 Trauma Center, Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, and Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within Ballad Health, an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 29 counties of Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Northwestern North Carolina and Southeastern Kentucky.. The Department of Pharmacy is decentralized and consists of an outpatient oncology pharmacist, centralized inpatient pharmacists, decentralized pharmacists and clinical specialists. The department also provides services to Niswonger Children's Hospital. Residency preceptors are affiliated with East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.
