Description of Residency Program

Our ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is a structured and advanced education and training experience that provides the foundational skills required to become competent and confident clinical practitioners, and future leaders in pharmacy practice.  Our residents develop knowledge and skills in direct patient care, with experiences in both acute and ambulatory care settings, providing them with the opportunity to be successful in multiple practice settings.  Our preceptors are Clinical Pharmacy Specialists with prescribing authority and manage pharmacist-led clinics or services, such as primary care (diabetes, hypertension, lipids, COPD, heart failure, tobacco cessation, anemia), mental health, pain management, geriatrics, and anticoagulation.  Residents receive teaching certification through our affiliation with Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville School of Pharmacy (SIUE-SOP) and are also offered classroom teaching opportunities.
