Residency Showcase Program Listings

This PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is conducted by Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) in Arlington, Virginia in partnership with the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University in Winchester and Fairfax, Virginia. Rotations are completed at Virginia Hospital Center, an independent 394-bed not-for-profit, teaching facility.

The purpose of the program is to build on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and contributes to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.  The focus of this residency is to enhance skills in pharmacy leadership, pharmaceutical care, patient education, medication therapy monitoring, establishing therapeutic goals and communication with other healthcare providers. Our affiliation with Shenandoah University enables the residents to participate in a teaching and learning curriculum certificate program and gain experience in lecturing, small group facilitation, as well as precepting pharmacy students.
